With the UK’s Lloyd Employment Confidence Report declining from 1 to -2 in December, the Pound softened against a couple of its currency counterparts and edged slightly lower against the Rand.

The GBP/ZAR pairing brushed a low of 17.3260 but also attained a high of 17.4380 as South Africa’s Manufacturing Production report disappointed.

Additional fluctuations in the GBP/NOK pairing will be the result of UK news and global economic developments.

Pound to Swedish Krona Today: GBP/SEK

At the beginning of the week the Pound to Swedish Krona currency pair achieved a high of 12.2248, but spent much of the European session trading around the day’s opening levels of 12.2126.

Pound to Danish Krone Today: GBP/DKK

The Pound strengthened modestly against the Danish Krone on Monday, with the GBP/DKK exchange rate advancing by around 0.15% to hit a high of 9.5360 over the course of the European session.

Danish data showed that the nation’s annual inflation rate printed at 0.3% in December, down from 0.5% in November and in line with forecasts.

There are no further economic reports for Denmark this week, but investors will now be looking ahead to next week’s retail sales and consumer confidence stats.

Update 14/01/2015:

The Pound Sterling exchange rate complex saw losses against the Norwegian Krone, Swedish Krona, South African Rand and Danish Krona as a result of the UK’s Consumer Price Index.

The measure of inflation was predicted to have fallen below 1.0% in December – a result which triggered Sterling declines.

Other UK data to be aware of this week includes the British Retail Consortium’s like-for-like sales report and RICS House Price Balance figure.
