The Pound Australian Dollar exchange rate (GBP/AUD) declined to 1.7903 GBP/AUD -0.41%. Some of the recent Sterling gains were given up. US Non-Farm payrolls are expected to print positively today which has accounted for some of the confidence traders have shown in the riskier currencies during today’s trading session. As the US economy picks up, the global manufacturing industry stands to benefit which in turn sees exporting countries such as Australia benefit.
The Pound Dollar exchange rate (GBP/USD) dropped slightly on Friday to end the morning trading session around 1.6572 GBP/USD -0.14%. The Halifax released figures showing that 12 month house prices have increased by 8.7%. This news would typically have been positively received however it was tempered by the fact that in February prices actually fell by 1.1%. The February data was poorly received and led traders unwinding GBP positions. US jobs data is due to be released at 13:30pm, Non-Farm Payrolls are expected to have increased over the last month which has also proved Dollar supportive.
The Pound Euro exchange rate (GBP/EUR) remained fairly stagnant trading down around -0.07% to 1.2084 GBP/EUR. The negative February house price data weighed upon Sterling which combined with the positive European Central Bank (ECB) comments yesterday and the decision to keep rates on hold saw the Euro gain a modest amount of upside.
The Pound Canadian Dollar exchange rate (GBP/CAD) retracted sharply during the morning trading session. After the US Non-Farm payrolls data the Loonie gained 0.66% at 1.8174 GBP/CAD. The perceived improvement in the US economy bodes well for Canadian exports of Oil and therefore has created the perception of a likely increase in demand for the Loonie.

The Pound Sterling to Euro exchange rate is trading down -0.02% at 1.20930 GBP/EUR.
The Pound Sterling to New Zealand Dollar exchange rate is trading down -0.48% at 1.93112 GBP/NZD.
The Pound Sterling to US Dollar exchange rate is trading down -0.06% at 1.65882 GBP/USD.
