Australian dollar drops almost 3 per cent in a week

The Australian dollar has moved sharply lower over the past week and could fall to fresh 2018 lows against the US dollar if investors continue to bid up the greenback, but senior currency traders remain sanguine about the longer-term outlook for the Aussie.
Since April 18, the Aussie is down as much as 2.8 per cent, with this drop taking the currency back to levels last seen in December. It was recently down 2.6 per cent against the greenback at US75.79¢.
