KUWAIT, Jan 29 (KUNA) -- 1950 -- His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the 10th ruler of Kuwait passed away, aged 65 years old, after ruling the country for 29 years after the passing of Sheikh Salem Mubarak on February 23 1921.
1963 -- His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem, the ruler of Kuwait, opened the first session of the National Assembly's legislative term, and after swear-in speeches, Abdulaziz Al-Saqr was elected as the Speaker.
1974 -- A partnership agreement was signed between Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), represented by BP Kuwait Limited Co., with Kuwait Gulf Oil Company, according to which the government bought 60 percent of its concession in return for compensation on the basis of the book value of the assets of the company.
2003 -- World Health organization (WHO) approved the Kuwaiti prize allocated for scientists contributing in the researches of heart diseases, cancer, and antismoking.
2006 -- Kuwaiti Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Faisal Mohamamd Al-Hajji issued a decree announcing the foundation of Kuwait Dyslexia Association.
2006 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was sworn in accordance to Article 60 of the Constitution.
2008 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah honored in Bayan Palace Kuwaiti youth who had obtained patents and scientific rewards from international academic bodies.
2010 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah donated 10 million Sterling Pounds to the Oxford center for Islamic studies.
2012 -- Minister of Oil and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Mohammad Al-Busairi announces profits due to the implementation of Segma system in Petrochemical Industries Company, totaling USD 90 million.
2014 -- Specialist in Nose, Ear, and throat surgeries Dr. Hasan Al-Shameri wins best surgeon award during Arab health conference in Dubai. (end) mb
