Goldcorp Inc. said David Garofalo, who currently heads HudBay Minerals Inc., will succeed Chuck Jeannes as chief executive officer when the latter retires in April.

“I’m going to relax a bit and spend some time with my family and get to know my grandkids better than I’ve been able to and then see what else I can get involved with,” Jeannes said in a telephone interview. “I’d like to remain involved in the mining industry in some capacity but not in a full CEO capacity.” He has two children and three grandchildren, “but it will be five by April,” he said.
